Scotland's Lisa Martin has been called up to the nation's rugby squad to face Wales after Hannah Smith had to withdraw due to injury.

Martin, who plays at Saracens, will be awarded her 50th cap if she plays at Scotstoun on Sunday.

Smith picked up her injury during a club match in the Women’s Tennent’s Premiership last weekend.

Speaking about the team news, head coach Philip Doyle said: “It is disappointing that we won’t have Hannah for the match against Wales on Sunday.

"I am hopeful that we will have her back for the match next weekend against Japan.

“Lisa has a lot of experience and has been playing well at Saracens this season, starting every match. I am looking forward to seeing what she brings to the squad.”

Loughborough Lightning's Rachel Malcolm will captain the side in their clash with Wales, which is their first of two autumn internationals.
