England Women made history as they secured the first ever Rugby X competition by beating the United States in the final.

The competition, held at London's 02 Arena, consisted of four teams each with five players per side.

The English reached the final thanks to a dominant display against France which saw them run out 35-20 victors.

In the final, they then defeated the US 3-2 in a one-on-one format after the initial game ended 20-20.

Meanwhile, in the men's tournament, England disappointed the home crowd as they failed to win a single game, losing to the Barbarians, Ireland and Argentina.

And it was the Argentines who claimed the men's trophy after they beat Ireland 25-15 in the final.
