Season Opener announced for 2020 Vitality Netball Superleague
The 2020 Season Opener event is changing to celebrate the 15th year of the Vitality Netball Superleague.
In addition to the normal 18 rounds, the season opener will make the regular season 19 rounds long with fixtures determined by where teams were placed at the end of the 2019 series.
The top two teams, reigning champions Manchester Thunder and runners-up Wasps will take each other on with third place Bath playing Loughborough Lightning and the trend continues down the table.
The points earned from the additional round will contribute to the regular season while the home and away points from the other 18 rounds will determine the top four who will then battle it out for a place in the Grand Final.
This additional round means that each team plays a season opener as well as their nine home and nine away games.
Vitality Netball Superleague viewing figures increased by 28% in 2019 compared to 2018 and after the success of the World Cup this summer this promises to be a huge season for netball in this country.
Director of netball at Surrey Storm, Mikki Austin said: "Season Opener 2020 is sure to be a hugely exciting start to the season! Not only does the Vitality Netball Superleague provide world-class sporting action but also exceptional entertainment and events."
The event will take place at Arena Birmingham on Saturday February 22, 2020 and tickets go on general sale on August 22.
The fixtures are as follows:
11am Strathclyde Sirens v London Pulse
12:30am Celtic Dragons v Surrey Storm
