Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili 'pocketed less money than male counterparts' at UFC 248

UFC fighters Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Zhang Weili are said to have pocketed £200,000 less than their male counterparts at UFC 248.

Weili who retained her strawweight title on Saturday evening reportedly earned £153,000 and Jedrzejczyk just over £81,000. 

The salaries, revealed by MMA Junkie, claimed by comparison the main event winner in the male middleweight, Israel Adesanya, earned £383,000 and his competitor Yoel Romero earned £268,000.

Both female fighters have received a two-month medical suspension after Jedrzejczyk suffered a forehead injury and Weili had several cuts and bruises. The UFC have said they cannot return until May 7.
