Flamengo manager Jorge Jesus has tested negative for coronavirus, just a day after he announced he had the illness.

On Tuesday, the 65-year-old Portuguese boss revealed on Instagram that he had tested positive for the virus.

And the South American club also released a statement saying that Jesus had come back with a 'weak positive or inconclusive' test for COVID-19.

But after a second test, the Rio-based club have now released a second statement which reads: "The new exam done on coach Jorge Jesus has come back negative for COVID-19."

On Tuesday, the Rio state championships was suspended for 15 days until April 1.
