Sunderland complete Bailey Wright signing
Australia international defender Bailey Wright has returned to Sunderland after signing a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light.
The 28-year-old joined the Black Cats on loan from Bristol City in January and helped the side keep five clean sheets in six appearances before suffering ankle ligament damage.
He did not feature again as the season was curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic, but he returns after his contract at the Robins expired this summer.
Wright told the club’s official website: “It feels really good to get the deal done and I just can’t wait to get up to the north east and join the squad.
“Although I only worked with the manager for a short spell, I really enjoyed the structure and discipline of the team.
“He expects his players to give everything on the pitch and be good people, and we have that culture within the dressing room.
“We are heading in the right direction and I’m very confident we can achieve our ambitions next season.”
Wright is the second summer signing for manager Phil Parkinson after Republic of Ireland striker Aiden O’Brien joined earlier this week.
