UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman has called on Irish superstar Conor McGregor to come out of retirement and fight him.

Usman cemented his place as the current best 170-pounder when he defeated Jorge Masvidal at UFC 251 last week.

And while McGregor announced back in June that he was hanging up his gloves, Usman remains interested in a big money fight with the former two-weight world champion.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, he said: "I've offered him a shot! I said, 'Hey if you want it, it's yours, you got it' and he was silent.

"If Conor wants to put my name in his mouth, then come get some.

"[A Conor fight is] just a lost cause because we both know Conor.

"The only time Conor gets up to the welterweight division is if he's able to pick and choose lightweights with double-digit losses that he can pick off and not have to cut weight to get down to lightweight.

"If Conor wants a piece at welterweight, he knows who the king of the division is. I'm not going anywhere! I'm right here."

McGregor last fought at UFC 246 back in January where he knocked out Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone inside the first minute.

While ‘The Notorious One’ has collected world title belts in both the featherweight and lightweight divisions, he is yet to secure one at welterweight.

And Usman, who has now equalled George St-Pierre’s record for most consecutive UFC victories at welterweight, has not lost since 2013.
