Former world champion Lizzie Deignan remains confident she will be riding come the Tokyo Olympic Games despite the event being postponed until 2021.

The 31 year-old, who earlier on this season specified the Olympics as her main goal for the year, took silver in the road race at London 2012, before missing out on a medal at Rio four years ago with a fifth place finish.

And while the coronavirus has pushed the Tokyo Games back to next summer, Deignan is still adamant that is her long-term goal.

She said: "I have the motivation and optimism to carry me through to an Olympics in 2021. What a special Games that will be."
