Off-licences added to list of 'essential' shops to remain open during coronavirus lockdown

Off-licences have been added to the list of 'essential' stores which will remain open during the coronavirus lockdown.

The move came on Wednesday after complaints from members of the public that supermarkets were selling out of alcohol.

The full list of 'essential' stores now includes:

  • Supermarkets and other food shops
  • Pharmacies
  • Off-licences and shops selling alcohol such as breweries
  • Petrol stations
  • Newsagents
  • Bicycle shops
  • Home and hardware shops
  • Launderettes and dry cleaners
  • Garages
  • Pet shops
  • Post offices
  • Banks
