Arsenal breezed into the Women’s Champions League quarter-finals with an 8-0 victory in the second leg of their last-16 tie with Slavia Prague.

The Dutch pair of Danielle van de Donk and Vivianne Miedema scored hat-tricks while Jill Rood and captain Kim Little’s penalty meant that the Gunners beat their Czech opponents 13-2 on aggregate.

Arsenal were also denied by the woodwork three times in the first half and Slavia goalkeeper Bara Votikova was forced to make several saves across the 90 minutes.

The Women’s Super League champions are the only English side remaining in the competition, after Manchester City were knocked out by Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Glasgow City reached the quarter-finals after a memorable victory over Brondby on penalties.

Glasgow had a 2-0 lead going into the second leg, but the deficit was wiped out in the first half thanks to Nanna Christiansen and Frederikke Lindhard’s strikes for Brondby.

The Scottish side needed numerous saves from goalkeeper Lee Alexander and her heroic performance was capped off with three saves in the shoot-out. Glasgow sealed a 3-1 victory in the shootout thanks to Jo Love.

Paris Saint-Germain also made it through to the last-eight after a 7-1 aggregate victory over Breidablik.
